In order to demonstrate the potential of PTM technique for documenting the surface texture of paintings a set of ten test paintings where produced, six small (206x253mm) canvases and four small (224x246mm) panels. Each of the test paintings where examined using the PTM process at various stages in there production and then after they had been distressed, altered or damaged.
