NG 191 is likely to be a late work by Guido Reni (though it has also been attributed to his studio), perhaps of about 1640. It was probably made for private devotion, and in it Reni returned to a theme he had painted in a larger full-length picture for the church of the Gerolamini, Naples (about 1621).
