NG 3123 either represents the Roman Vestal Virgin Tuccia, or alludes to her example in a generalised allegory of Chastity. When Tuccia\'s chastity was questioned she proved her innocence by carrying a sieve full of water from the Tiber to the Temple of Vesta as recorded in Pliny\'s Natural History (28: 12), and Petrarch\'s Triumph of Chastity.
NG 3123 is the only known single-figure allegory by Moroni.
Tuccia is also the subject of Mantegna NG 1125.1.
