NG 2902 is one of the predella panels for the high altarpiece of S. Giusto alle Mura, just outside Florence, and was probably painted in 1479. The altarpiece (Florence, Uffizi) represents The Virgin and Child with Saints Michael, Justus, Raphael and Zenobius. Four other predella panels survive (Fall of the Rebel Angels, Detroit, Institute of Arts; Marriage of the Virgin, Tobias and the Archangel Raphael, Burial of Saint Zenobius, New York, Metropolitan Museum of Art). This panel would have been below the image of Saint Justus.
S. Giusto alle Mura, Florence, until 1529; subsequently recorded in S. Giusto della Calza, Florence; bequeathed by Lady Lindsay, 1912.
