Saint Jerome as a penitent kneels before a crucifix in a landscape which includes a lake and tower. His lion, from whose paw the saint had removed a thorn, rests on the path. The saint has a stone in his hand and wounds on his chest which indicate his self-chastisement. Behind him lie his red cardinal\'s hat and gown.
The origin of the panel remains unknown; it is considered a product of the artist\'s workshop.
