The classical scholar and collector Fulvio Orsini, a protégé of the Farnese family and a friend of Annibale, owned two keyboard instruments which he states he had had decorated, and it is likely that NG 93.1-2 come from one of these. NG 94 may derive from the same instrument or the other one Orsini owned.
Probably part of one of the instruments mentioned in the will of Fulvio Orsini, 1600; Palazzo Lancellotti, Rome, 1664; Holwell Carr Bequest, 1831.
