NG 1082 came from the same altarpiece as NG 1084. It has been suggested that two further panels from the ensemble can be identified: an Adoration of the Kings, now in Honolulu, and a Christ among the Doctors (Antwerp, Museum Mayer van der Bergh). On grounds of style the altarpiece is dated to about 1515.
Said to have been in the Noble sale with NG 1084, Christie\'s, 7 April 1796; collection of Karl Aders, London, by 1817; bequeathed by Mrs Joseph H. Green, 1880.
