NG 978 probably represents the departure of admiralty officials on their way from Amsterdam across the Zuiderzee to visit the fleet. This must have been a fairly common occurrence in about 1660.
Probably Robit collection, Paris, by 1801; collection of the Comte de Pourtalès, Paris; collection of Wynn Ellis by 1871 (and possibly by 1850); Wynn Ellis Bequest, 1876.
