Probably in the Rossi collection, Milan, by 1786 (and apparently in the collection of Signor D. Antonio Rossi, Milan, by 1821); bought in about 1882 by Charles Fairfax Murray who sold the picture to R.H. Benson; bought from Benson by Sir Joseph (later Lord) Duveen, by whom presented 1927.
