NG 3937 probably dates from the 1480s, and is unusually well-preserved. It was once thought to be a workshop piece, but recent cleaning has revealed the high quality of the picture, and the handling is characteristic of Domenico Ghirlandaio. The composition seems to have been repeated by Ghirlandaio\'s workshop for an altarpiece in Pisa.
