NG 3914 can probably be dated before 1511, at a time when Fra Bartolommeo was working with Mariotto Albertinelli (1475-1515). A version of NG 3914 by Albertinelli (Rome, Borghese Gallery), dated 1511, is probably based on Fra Bartolommeo\'s cartoon.
There is a drawing for the figures by Fra Bartolommeo (Paris, Louvre) and some others by him which may be preparatory for the composition.
