NG 34 was probably painted in Titian\'s studio sometime after 1554. Of the many versions of this composition, that in Madrid (Prado) is generally regarded as autograph and seems to have been painted in 1553-4 for Philip II of Spain. Another version at least in part by Titian himself is in Malibu (J. Paul Getty Museum).
