It is possible that NG 3086 originally formed part of a piece of furniture. In the past the work has been attributed to numerous Venetian painters active in the early fifteenth century, but its condition makes firm attribution difficult. A part of the landscape derives from that in Giovanni Bellini\'s Resurrection (Berlin, Gemäldegalerie), and the town and bridge recur in the background of Busati NG 3084.
