The Virgin and Child are shown with four angels. The reliefs on the Virgin\'s throne represent (left) the Presentation in the Temple and (right) the Marriage of the Virgin.
NG 629 seems once to have been on the high altar of the Oratory of S. Pietro in Vincoli at Faenza. There was originally a separate horizontal compartment on top, with a painting of the dead Christ supported by angels. John the Baptist and John the Evangelist may have been seated on this level - their slightly larger size would be explained by this. Despite the divisions of the frame, the three largest compartments depict the same landscape and the steps of the throne in the central compartment project into the side ones. (See Appendix B for a larger reproduction.)
