NG 3315 can be compared to portraits by Everdingen such as Wollebrandt Geleynsz. de Jongh (Alkmaar, Stedelijk Museum) and Albert Capelman (Leiden, Sint Salvator-hof). Both of these paintings are dated 1648. The work catalogued here may have been made a little later, possibly in 1651, the date on the false inscription.
