This painting is usually connected with a larger picture of a similar subject, Woman at her Toilette, dated 1883 (Paris, Musée d\'Orsay). However, Puvis turned to this intimate type of subject frequently during his career and NG 3267 should probably be regarded as an independent work. Two drawings relating to this picture are recorded.
NG 3267 has been dated variously between 1870 and 1883.
