NG 2908 is a roundel and probably formed part of the decoration of a frame or predella. It has been suggested that it could have come from the frame of an altarpiece painted by Fra Angelico for S. Domenico, Fiesole (see also NG 663), although there is no evidence for this. Another roundel of similar dimensions showing a bishop saint and evidently from the same work as NG 2908 is in the Metropolitan Museum, New York. The execution of this roundel has sometimes been given to Fra Angelico\'s workshop.
Collection of Lady Lindsay by 1893; by whom bequeathed, 1912.
