NG 586.1-3 is said to have come from the Augustinian church of S. Spirito, Florence, possibly from the Capponi da S. Frediano family chapel, which contains Augustinian saints (e.g. Saint Nicholas of Tolentino). The altarpiece was probably a triptych with NG 586.2 on the left and NG 586.3 on the right. It has been suggested that NG 587 and NG 588 might have formed part of the same ensemble.
