NG 2589 has been attributed to Frans Mieris the Elder, and \'Leiden School, second half of the seventeenth century\'. It is now considered the work of van Deuren, by comparison with his signed Astronomer of 1685 (New York, Christophe Janet, 1978). The model and globe appear to be the same in both works.
