NG 1342 is de Wet\'s only known landscape without biblical figures. The right half of the composition was repeated - with variations - in the right background of de Wet\'s Abraham giving the Shewbread to Melchizedek (Dublin, National Gallery).
NG 1342 is similar to the signed and dated Eliezer and Rebecca of 1646 (St Petersburg, Hermitage) and was probably painted at about the same time.
