Saint Lawrence (right), a third-century deacon of the church, is shown with the gridiron on which he was martyred by being roasted.
On the reverse of each panel is a landscape and four cranes. On the reverse of the Saint John the Baptist panel there is also the coat of arms of the Florentine family of Pagagnotti. The panels are wings of a folding triptych; the centre panel is the Virgin and Child with Angels in the Uffizi, Florence. Painted for a Florentine patron, the triptych was in Florence by about 1480 and the landscapes were copied by several Florentine painters.
