The prophet David, who wears a crown to denote his kingship, blesses (?) with his right hand and displays the inscribed scroll with his left.
This panel is a pinnacle (third from the left) from the high altarpiece of S. Croce, Florence. It was situated above Saint Bartholomew and Saint Andrew (NG 3473). All the other works catalogued here as by Ugolino are from this altarpiece; for further discussion see under NG 1188.
